FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ'S)
Q. How old do you need to be to practice Shotokan Karate ?
A. Both children & adults can practice karate. Students from the ages of 7 and older can participate in the Children’s class. Unfortunately we do not have a program to teach children under the age of 7. Students age 13 and older should participate in the adult class. There is no age limit to practicing karate as long as you are physically able to train.
Q. What is expected of me as a student ?
A. The main expectation is that all students train to the best of their ability, and conduct themselves respectfully towards the instructors and other students during class. Classes will always begin and end on time, so students are expected to arrive several minutes before the start of each class.
Q. Do you teach Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) ?
A. No. We primarily teach traditional Shotokan Karate-Do, which emphasizes respect for your opponent, humility, perfection of character, development of internal and external technique, and fostering a strong spirit. Although we teach Shotokan as our primary system, we do believe that all martial arts styles have value for students, who should not be closed minded and limited to one specific style. We encourage students to train and develop using whatever style and techniques that allow them to express themselves effectively.
